OUR STORY

Construction of our factory began and ended in 1997. Manufacturing officially commenced in 1998 with the aim of making the most delicious and high-quality confectionery and building strong introductory brands such as Bees Ballgum, Lucky boy and Karate and capture the local untapped market segment. We then introduced a variety of new products from 2000-2009 which can be seen on our timeline below.

As a result of this wide range and the increasing demand, we had to expand our factory in 2018. We acquired 20 acres of land fully dedicated to building our confectionary empire.

We have managed to expand our confectionary selection even more, such as new range of Stick pack products named “Mambo” featuring six flavors; (Pineapple, Orange, Banana, Mint, Mixed Fruit & Strawberry) (2018). It was the same year that our factory was awarded the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 by SGS, and approved By Nichols PLC to start manufacturing Vimto Lollipops and Candies.

We established new distribution Depot center in Nairobi in 2019, expanding our collection even further with chewing gums such as the Footy, Disco Balls, Mega Ball Watermelon and Bigg Boss Watermelon, and lollipops such as the Mr. Berry Yoghurt, No. 1 Milk. In 2020, we began with the installation of the 204 KW Solar power project, and added more products to our catalogue like the Bigg Daddy, Ice Cool range.

At Mzuri Sweets Ltd, we manufacture our products under the highest hygiene conditions and using the best in-the-market Equipment and technology. We have designed a Food Safety Management System [FSMS] which is strictly guided by the Food Safety System Certification [FSSC: 22000] principles. This incorporates both ISO 22000:2018 and ISO/TS 22000:2009 and the additional FSSC 22000 requirements (Version 5.1).

The system is designed to guarantee end-to-end material, equipment, process, and product integrity and puts a premium on hygiene and high quality at every step, to ensure that that the final products surpass all international requirements on food safety.

Our processes also give due cognizance to the importance of maintaining sustainable growth and environment protection. Our systems follow all regulatory guidelines on environment and safe work practices.

Our final products are the culmination of a meticulous Research and Development effort that takes into consideration the many various customer preferences and emerging consumer trends while making every attempt to keep the final product costs customer friendly. This is a feature that is rolled over all our products be it Hard Candy, Soft Candy, Bubblegum or Ball gums.

Process monitoring entails detailed analysis of all raw materials upon receipt and immediately prior to usage, in-process monitoring and finished product quality verification.
